On May 19, Town Manager Kelly Arnold presented the Mayor and Town Board of Commissioners with a balanced Proposed Budget for Fiscal Year 2020-21, covering the period of July 1, 2020 through June 30, 2021. Slides from the Town Manager's presentation are also available.
The public is invited to comment on the proposed budget at a public hearing on Tuesday, June 2.
The Strategic Plan adopted by the Town Board is prioritized and addressed throughout the recommended budget, in order to advance the Vision and Goals for the community.
The property tax rate is proposed with a net reduction of two cents, from $0.48 to $0.46 per $100 assessed value. This rate is two cents above the revenue-neutral rate in order to provide funds for capital savings and address COVID-19 needs. No changes are proposed to other taxes and fees, including the solid waste fee. This budget allows service levels to be maintained and to grow proportionally with increases in population.
