NEW GUIDELINES FOR MATTRESSES & BOX SPRINGS: EFFECTIVE MARCH 11, 2024
If residents have mattresses or box springs, please dispose of these items by arranging trash loads in such a manner that mattresses and box springs can be off-loaded first. If staff from Wake County Solid Waste Division notices mattresses or box springs in your vehicle, they will request you to pull aside and rearrange your load accordingly.
Please note that despite these measures, there may still be instances where mattresses and box springs are left at the landfill. This can occur due to:
- Customers with dumpsters that were not loaded by the hauler, such as multi-family properties and businesses, where sorting is not feasible.
Mattresses and box springs collected at all Wake County convenience centers are currently still being landfilled versus shredded. While we anticipate these items will eventually be shredded, logistical considerations may delay implementation.
If you have an issue with your solid waste removal, please let us know at Town Hall via the Report a Concern feature at the top of the website or by calling 919-556-6490 within 24 hours of the scheduled pickup day. This will enable us to address the issue more efficiently.
