The Town of Rolesville officially celebrated the completion of a project to construct an extension of Granite Falls Boulevard between Rogers Road and Grand Rock Way. This road will help with traffic flow for the nearby residents as well as Thales Academy.
The road segment features bicycle lanes and sidewalks, consistent with the Town’s desire to create a walkable community. A traffic signal has been installed at the intersection of Rogers Road and Granite Falls Boulevard.
The road will be opened to all vehicular traffic once the new traffic signal becomes fully operational. Currently, the morning and afternoon carpool for Thales Academy is the only traffic permitted to use this section of the road.
This $2 million project was funded by street impact fees and contributions from adjoining developers. This road segment is part of a longer-term plan for Granite Falls Boulevard to connect West Young Street and Burlington Mills Road, providing an alternative route to navigate through Town.
Despite challenges from additional rock and rainy weather, the project was completed on time thanks to the hard work and diligence of Rifenburg Construction, the contractor engaged to complete the road.
