PRESCHOOL CLASSES

Ballet & Jazz* – Ballet: An introduction to ballet with beginning development of ballet concepts including turn out, coordination, spatial awareness and a specific focus on class etiquette. Students will begin positions of the feet, and introductory movement vocabulary. The goal of this beginner Ballet class is to impart the fundamentals of classical ballet. Class will focus on basic ballet technique, proper body alignment, French terminology and musicality.  Jazz: This class will focus on learning proper jazz technique such as isolations of the body, stretching, progressions, improving energy and endurance as well as working on combinations in various jazz styles.

Ages: 5 – 8 years
Session Fee: $60 – Resident / $75 – Non-Resident (per session)

Creative Dance* – Class assists the young dancer in identifying basic forms of movement through imaginative games, songs, music and rhythmical patterns while fostering independence. Students will be introduced to the concepts of body, energy, space, & time as well as encouraged to take direction from the instructor and share turns with peers.

Little Medical School* -At Little Medical School®, we understand kids love to dress up and play doctor. Through interactive learning, kids will discover how the body and organs work, how to use medical instruments, administer first aid and even tie knots like a real surgeon. Each child will receive a working stethoscope to take home and a diploma as a graduate of the Little Medical School® after completion of the course.

Little Veterinarian School* -Little Veterinarian School® encourages elementary school children to role play and explore the exciting world of veterinarians. Using interactive demonstrations, crafts and games, kids learn how to take care of a pet and use instruments that real veterinarians use.

Mad Science* – The Mission of Mad Science of Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill is to spark the imagination and curiosity of children through fun, hands-on science programs that instill a clear understanding of what science is really about and how it affects the world around them. Mad Science makes learning fun! Children will learn how to explore, question and test their theories. Through unique experiments and dazzling demonstrations we hope to inspire young people to explore the world around them, and possibly pursue careers in technology, science or engineering.

Forces of Science: Through the course of Forces of Science, children will play engineer, chemist—and stunt pilot! Students will investigate physics fundamentals and bring their scientific minds to basic magic tricks. Your Mad Scientists will be shocked by what they learn! Topics include forces, electricity, flight, structures, air pressure and more. All classes include a take home item relating to the program’s content.

NASA -Academy of Future Space Explorers: Take a voyage of discovery into the atmosphere and beyond! Explore planets, moons and other space phenomena in our solar system. Discover the difficulties of space travel, the  challenges of living in space and try assembling a satellite while training to be an astronaut.  Students will have lots of projects to make and to take home, plus – Mad Science is the ONLY organization licensed to use these activities for summer camps and school programs. All material developed by Mad Science and NASA.

School’s Out Program* – Is your child out of school, but you still have to work?  Then our School’s Out Program is the answer!  The program will run from 7:30 am – 6:00 pm and will focus on active and passive recreational games/activities, arts and crafts, enrichment experiences and so much more!  Please remember to pack a lunch, 2 snacks, drinks, and a change of clothes (if necessary) for you child.
