Beginner’s Photography* -Did you get a new camera as a present or are planning to buy one? Confused about all those buttons and things like F-Stop, shutter speed, ISO, white balance and the like? This beginner’s class will help with all of that and allow you to get that camera off of automatic and take the photograph you would like instead of what the camera thinks you want. There will be an emphasis on shooting outdoors and we will have some practice. So, bring a lunch and learn how to use that camera!

Beginner’s Sewing* – Do you want to learn to sew? Become familiar with the basics of sewing including vocabulary, necessary supplies, basic stitches, and operating your machine. During this class students will complete 2 projects including a pillowcase and a tote bag. Use your new sewing skills to make gifts and crafts for others!

Chair Yoga* – A gentle form of yoga we practice sitting or standing using a chair for support. We will have a warm-up that incorporates breathing practice, a work phase, and cool down with  relaxation. We include modifications for added protection of our knees, back, shoulders and neck.

Chess (Beginner)* – This is an introduction to chess class designed for novices.   We will have fun learning how pieces move, the 3 special moves, and the difference between check and checkmate. This class meets at 105 – A W. Young Street.

Creative Writing for Young Adults* – An introduction to the craft of creative writing for young writers. This class will examine writing techniques and tools essential to effective writing and editing for young adults   including narrative, character, scene, and dialogue, as well as the habits that are necessary to grow as a writer. This class meets at 105 – A W. Introduction to Drawing* – We will explore this through classical  methods through still life studies and life drawing observations. Whether you are interested in drawing to help you with your paintings, to learn how to “see”  objects in the world more accurately or, as with me, you are wanting to improve upon your drawing for use in all the activities of your life…join us! This class meets at 105 – A W. Tai Chi* – Tai Chi consists of fluid, gentle movements that are relaxed and slow in tempo.  It is easy-to-learn, safe and effective.  Sun Style is especially beneficial for arthritis because it contains powerful qigong exercises to enhance healing, agile steps to improve mobility.

Wii Bowling – Come and join your friends and others the for a fun morning of Wii Bowling!

Yoga Flow*– Yoga Flow focuses on the essential practice of yoga with one breath and one movement. This class is open to all levels and it strengthens and stretches out the full body within an hour. Participants will learn the basic postures of Yoga, but will also be given built-up challenge poses to help strengthen the arms, legs, and core. Yoga Flow is perfect for individuals who want to try something new with lots of energy and find peace by the end of class! This class meets at 105 – A W. Young Street.

Zumba – We take the “work” out of workout, by mixing low-intensity and high-intensity moves for an interval-style, calorie-burning dance fitness party. Once the Latin and World rhythms take over, you’ll see why it’s often called exercise in disguise.  We also do Zumba Toning within the workout using no more than 5 pound weights .

Ages: 13 years and up

Day Trips*


Greensboro Science Center* – Join us for an exciting day visiting the animals and exhibits at the Animal Discovery Zoological Park, Museum, and SciQuarium of the Greensboro Science Center. Lunch will be on your own at the onsite Fresh Market Cafe. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.  We will leave Town Hall at 9:00 am and return at 5:00 pm.

Senior Citizens Day at the North Carolina State Fair*   _ Get ready for a day filled with shopping, walking, and eating at the State Fair! Look at many exhibits, try your luck at a game or two, and enjoy the sights, sounds, and smells of our exciting fair. Free breakfast and entertainment at Dorton  Arena for seniors age 65 and over. If under age 65, there will be an additional $10 charge the day of to cover ticket cost.

Fee: $10 – R / $25 – NR; additional $10 charge day of if under age 65

Senior Shopping Spree* – Want to do some holiday shopping but you don’t want to be bothered with parking?  We will have transportation to and from Crabtree Valley Mall!  Lunch will be on your own in the mall.  We will leave Rolesville Town Hall at 9:30 am and return at 3:30 pm.
