Beginner’s Photography* -Did you get a new camera as a present or are planning to buy one? Confused about all those buttons and things like F-Stop, shutter speed, ISO, white balance and the like? This beginner’s class will help with all of that and allow you to get that camera off of automatic and take the photograph you would like instead of what the camera thinks you want. There will be an emphasis on shooting outdoors and we will have some practice. So, bring a lunch and learn how to use that camera!

Ages: 13 years and up

Beginner’s Stained Glass* – Students will learn to develop a pattern, select glass, cut and fit glass pieces, apply copper foil and solder a stained glass panel.  A pattern of the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse and glass will be provided to produce the finished panel. Students will also be responsible for providing their own tools from the list of  required tools that will be around $50. Tools can be reused many times and also shared between participants. Once     registered, please contact for information about tools.

Chess (Beginner)* – This is an introduction to chess class designed for novices.   We will have fun learning how pieces move, the 3 special moves, and the difference between check and checkmate. This class meets at 105 – A W. Young Street.

Chess (Intermediate)* – This class is for students that already know how to play chess.   We will work on developing openings, tactics, and end games to improve our competitive play skills. This class meets at 105 – A W. Young Street.

Introduction to Drawing* – We will explore this through classical  methods through still life studies and life drawing observations. Whether you are interested in drawing to help you with your paintings, to learn how to “see”  objects in the world more accurately or, as with me, you are wanting to improve upon your drawing for use in all the activities of your life…join us! This class meets at 105 – A W. Wii Bowling – Come and join your friends and others the for a fun morning of Wii Bowling!

Yoga Flow*– Yoga Flow focuses on the essential practice of yoga with one breath and one movement. This class is open to all levels and it strengthens and stretches out the full body within an hour. Participants will learn the basic postures of Yoga, but will also be given built-up challenge poses to help strengthen the arms, legs, and core. Yoga Flow is perfect for individuals who want to try something new with lots of energy and find peace by the end of class! This class meets at 105 – A W. Young Street.

Zumba – We take the “work” out of workout, by mixing low-intensity and high-intensity moves for an interval-style, calorie-burning dance fitness party. Once the Latin and World rhythms take over, you’ll see why it’s often called exercise in disguise.  We also do Zumba Toning within the workout using no more than 5 pound weights .

Ages: 10 years and up
Class Fee: $5 per class or $25 for 6 classes

Day Trips*


Trip to Wilmington for the Azalea Festival* – Join us for an exciting day in Wilmington during their Azalea Festival. The North Carolina Azalea Festival is Wilmington’s annual community celebration and the largest festival of its kind in the state. Founded in 1948, the Azalea Festival has emerged as Wilmington’s premier event. Watch the parade, enjoy lunch on Front Street, and shop with the many vendors for the Festival. We will leave Town Hall at 8:00 am and return at 5:00 pm. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
