TOWN MANAGER

The Town of Rolesville in Wake County, NC (pop. approx. 7K) council-manager form of government), is seeking an energetic, facilitative and visionary Town Manager who will wear multiple hats, with a special emphasis on excellent fiscal management and economic development. The Town Manager must have the ability to relate well to community and have the ability to partner with an engaged Board to carry out the strategic priorities of the Town.  About the Position: The Town Manager, who reports to the Mayor and a five-person Board of Commissioners, leads 34 FTE and oversees the departments of Administration, Parks and Recreation, Planning, Police and Public Works.  The FY 17-18 general fund budget of $6.7M is supported by a tax rate of $.048 per $100 of assessed tax value. In addition to supervising staff, the Town Manager must be effective at securing and overseeing contracted services.   Rolesville offers Natural Gas via PSNC, and water and sewer through the City of Raleigh.  The Town provides fire protection by contract with Rolesville Rural Fire and Eastern Wake EMS.   The Town Manager is also the staff liaison with the Planning Board and Board of Adjustment.  There are a number of economic development opportunities facing the town along with the need to balance the agricultural history of the community and excellent quality of life.  Their motto is “Celebrating our past, Embracing our future.”  Key strategic goals for the FY 17-18 year are to improve the overall appearance of the Town of Rolesville, increase economic development efforts, expand municipal athletic facilities, improve the Town Center Complex and continue to improve community relations. PARKS AND RECREATION INTERN

The Town of Rolesville is seeking an Intern to assist the Parks and Recreation Department in overall management of recreation programs, special events, athletic leagues, and facilities. This position will provide support at Rolesville Community Center and the Department’s Parks; assisting with special events, youth programs, adult programs and/or performing administrative duties. May be responsible for attending meetings and will gain a well-rounded experience through various responsibilities. This internship is designed to be both educational and practical. The ideal candidate will be a flexible team player who is willing and eager to learn. This internship is an opportunity to gain invaluable hands-on experience in one of the fastest growing towns in North Carolina. Minimum Qualifications: Declared major/minor within the parks & recreation leisure services, physical education or related field of study or other related degree, with an approved educational institution. Prior work experience working in a recreational setting preferred. CAMP COUNSELOR

Under general supervision, carries out camp activities for program participants.  Responsible for the direct supervision of campers, programming age appropriate activities and working with other staff to address the daily needs of a group of campers during the summer season.  Provide a high quality camp experience in a safe environment by incorporating: arts and crafts, recreational sports/games, field trips, specialty program(s), etc.  Counselors are expected to actively participate with campers in a recreational setting, must be able to interact with the public, act as a positive role model at all times, build relationships with campers, set-up and clean-up of camp related activities, adhere to and enforce all Town of Rolesville and Summer Camp policies, and other duties as necessary. Must be at least 16 years-old and currently enrolled in High School. Prior work experience in summer camp or recreational setting preferred. This is a 25-35 hour per week job Monday – Friday during summer camp.  This is a temporary position, camp operates for approximately 3 months during the year.

RECREATION ATTENDANT 

The Town of Rolesville is seeking a Recreation Attendant to assist Recreation Program Coordinator in overall management of the department facilities and recreation programs and rentals.  Can supervise a facility in the absence of a full time staff member.  They will provide support at Rolesville Community Center; assisting with special events, programs, and/or performing administrative duties.  Will also be responsible for opening/closing the facility during rentals and after hour programs.  Be familiar with facility and its programs.  Responsible for program registrations, proper cash handling procedures in accordance with Town policy and help maintain/clean facility as needed.  Must be at least 18 years-old old with prior work experience working in a recreational setting preferred.  Must possess a valid NC driver’s license.  Hours vary depending on departmental needs.  Salary: DOQ.  Rolesville is an EOE.
